~ Synopsis ~

Allison O’Malley’s plan is to go to grad school so she can get a good job and take care of her schizophrenic mother. She has carefully closed herself off from everything else, including a relationship with Ethan, who she’s been in love with for as long as she can remember.

What is definitely not part of the plan is the return of her long-lost father, who claims he can bring Allison’s mother back from the dark place her mind has gone. Allison doesn’t trust her father, so why would she believe his fairy tale about a long forgotten Irish people, the Tuatha de Danaan? But truths have a way of revealing themselves. Secrets will eventually surface. And Allison must learn to set aside her plan and work with her father if there is even a small chance it could restore her mother’s sanity.

Oh the angst and emotion that Laura Howard has placed into these books!! I was warned about them before I read them so I knew it was coming. Other people that I have talked to have told me to expect it so I was prepared. This first book, which is FREE on Amazon, definitely hooks you in. The magical world that she’s created is breathtakingly beautiful in her description. I can imagine it all with clarity and it makes me want to go to Ireland really badly, even more so than before.

I didn’t mind that this story is mostly for YA readers as I am a lover of YA stories. Some may find them a little immature, but definitely not so with this one. The subject matter at times is definitely not immature or childish. The love of a daughter for her mother and wanting to help her situation is not exclusive to age. Also the contempt that a daughter has for her long lost father returned isn’t going to be something that everyone can relate to but it’s definitely not unimaginable. I have personal experience with some of this so it resonated with me. I am glad that I read these back to back as I don’t know how long I could have waited in between books. I give The Forgotten Ones 5 books.

~ Synopsis ~

Allison thought it was crazy enough when she found out her father, Liam, wasn’t entirely human. But now she has to join his magical allies to unravel his former mistress’s plans. Aoife wants to keep Allison’s parents apart forever.

Despite Allison’s efforts to keep Ethan, the only guy she’s ever cared about, out of this supernatural mess, fate keeps throwing him back into the mix.

Will Allison be able to find the amulet that holds the enchantment Aoife placed on Liam and destroy it? Are Ethan’ s feelings for Allison strong enough to endure the magic of the Tuatha De Danaan?

Stone of Destiny picks up right where The Forgotten Ones leaves off. Allison definitely does not get a break at all in this second installment as it is full of action, too. Allison is worried about her mom, Ethan, Aoife, her dad…..she hardly has any time to worry about herself.

I felt so bad for Allison having to go through all of these crazy things and to not be able to tell anyone what was going on. I definitely wanted her to get with Ethan and make a relationship with him and trust him, but she can’t trust anyone. It sucks to be going through stressful situations and not to be able to tell anyone for fear that they will either kill you or not believe you, not that I would know what that feels like, but I can imagine. I was just as hooked to this one as the first one. 5 books.

The much awaited third book with the climax of the fight of her life!! Allison has laid everything on the line and is trying to fight for her mom, her dad, Ethan, and the rest of the Danaan people. She has sacrificed so much for this fight and to become the person that everyone thinks that she is. So many things have gone wrong and she’s lost so much but can she do it?

This was such a great conclusion to the trilogy. It was emotional and had some curve balls thrown in that I didn’t expect. I really hope that Laura writes some more about the Danaan and Allison. It would be kind of cool to see a prequel of this series or possibly one for in the future, maybe with Allison’s children. I’m going to miss these characters and the world of the Danaan. It’s such a magical place and the characters are likable and fun. 5 books!
