I am supposed to spill my secrets of my blogging success with the up-and-comers and the newbies. I LOVE doing this. But I don’t think I am the end all be all most perfect person to teach them/you. However, I don’t think my opinion or knowledge should be discounted either. First and foremost there is this:
Basically what this means is that you are DOING or NOT DOING, not TRYING. Yoda has some great words of wisdom and I love that little green bastard. You have to make the decision to do this blogging thing and when you do, you have to commit to it 100% or their is no point. There are plenty of half-assers out there and you won’t get anywhere doing that.
The second thing you have to do is to follow your heart. Only do what you want to do and don’t worry about what others are doing. If you don’t want to post something but others are, don’t feel bullied into doing it. Stay true to yourself. I do what I want and don’t get into all the other stuff that others do. That’s not me.
Third is one of the most important things that I can pass on to you. STAY OUT OF THE DRAMA!! Don’t talk shit on your page or blog. Don’t spread rumors or other propaganda on your page or blog. Don’t engage the morons and the attention seekers. They thrive on it and there are so many of them that it will spread and then you will feel the wrath of these idiots. It will hurt you and your page/blog and it will be really hard to come back from it. Now, I don’t mean that you can’t state your opinion. I’m just saying not to get into it with the antagonizers. You know who they are and what they want. Don’t play into it. I am proud to say that I have never had any drama or trolling on my blog or my page because I don’t feed into it. Remember, the internet is FOREVER. It will NEVER go away.
Fourth is another important item to remember: ASK FOR HELP! Don’t be afraid to ask others for help. The bloggers that are out there were where you are at one time. They know what it’s like to get started and not knowing what you are doing is not a new feeling. But, you also need to make it a two way street. Help others where you can and they will be more inclined to help you. It’s the “I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine” thing. Bloggers generally want to help people. That’s kind of why we do what we do. We are mostly approachable and will gladly help you if needed. The one problem you might run into is getting them to shut up! Other bloggers are a great resource and have been there and done that. They know what works and what doesn’t. They know what to avoid and what to get into. It’s an awesome community.
That’s about all that I have in my bag of tricks for you. Make sure you check out other #BookBlogWriMo posts because I’m sure there is a ton of stuff that I missed.
