So, today’s post is about my workflow (#blogflow) and how I work! It’s pretty frickin’ boring so I will try to make it as entertaining as possible.
The first thing I do is start the computer. And then I open up the web browsers and then…….just kidding!! It’s not that boring!!
Basically, I procrastinate until after the kids go to bed. Then I sit my ass in the recliner with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Karamel Sutra ice cream and waste time on Facebook. I do that for a couple of hours while I “prepare” my post(s) for the next day. It’s usually 12:30am or later when I get done and head to bed. What can I say? I’m a night owl.
I have a notepad app on my phone where I write everything that is supposed to go on the blog, what tour we are doing, and who is reading what. If I didn’t have that thing I would be totally screwed. If it doesn’t go in that app, then it doesn’t exist.
I have to go through my emails and find the posts for the next day. I try to use HTML as much as possible because it saves work. But, I generally have to fix the HTML posts anyway and can’t just leave them as is. I check to make sure everything looks good and the links are set up. I have to meticulously go through them to make sure they are up to my really anal standards. All of my posts have to look alike or as similar as they can. It’s really hard for me to just throw something up on the blog just to get it up there. Even if I am really tired or sick or just don’t feel like it, I still make myself if I can at all get to my computer. Sometimes, I am just too sick to do it and can’t, but I don’t sweat it too much.
I told you, pretty boring stuff. I’ve tried explaining what it is that I do to others and unless they do it, they have no idea what I am talking about or how much work it is. Some people think it’s just putting pictures and words on the screen, but it does take a lot of work to make them look pretty. I haven’t yet ventured into letting anyone else do my blog posts for me because I like them a certain way. Maybe one day I will do that…..maybe….
