~ Synopsis ~

You would think that because I am a Marine that life isn’t that hard to live. I’d like to tell you that you couldn’t be more wrong. War is hell on earth. I have seen so many things that will haunt me for the rest of my life. No matter how much I try to forget the light fading from someone’s eyes, I cannot. My life is one determined by the mind. I wake up every day to fears of what will trigger the turmoil that sends me into overdrive. My life is depicted by sounds and colors and things that make me less of a man.Who am I, well I am CPL Blake Johnson. I am a United States Marine and I am living with post-traumatic stress disorder. If it weren’t for Anna, the sunshine in my life things would be much harder than they are.Her

Being a cosmetologist is not the easiest job for me, and after losing my best friend to her inner demons. I am bound and determined to not lose the man I love as well. They say in my line of profession you are more than what you claim. You are a therapist, a shrink, a person that listens to anything and everything. I am not that person. I have so much built up inside me I think I may be about to explode. I hope that this isn’t true because my heart picked someone that happens to be as inconsolable as I feel.

Who am I? Well, my name is Anna Henderson. I am just trying to live my life one moment at a time and praying that I don’t mess it up.

~ Review by Denise ~

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*
Anticipation-most know the song but that is also how it was with this book. When I was given the opportunity to read this you could say I was more than slap happy. I really enjoyed the writing in the first one so knew this one would have to be worth the wait. I quickly opened the pages but made sure nothing would be in my way of reading this. I wanted no interruptions. The opener is very heart wrenching so I knew I was in for a wringer.
Blake is the buddy you read a little about in the first one but in this one it is now his time to tell his side and get to know him in depth. You are given a closer glimpse of the life they had leading right up to the tragedy with more interaction from the other guys. A Marine is for life but little did he realize that others would give theirs for him and Jameson would give him shelter but pay with the cost of his legs. When he stays with him through the hospital time till he is sent back home, they both miss the funeral of the others that were with them that gave their life.
Good ole Mary Beth she has a friend. In here, you meet Anna that puts up with her nonsense through thick and thin but is a true friend. She is going into the field of cosmetology doing hair at the local shop. She often fills in for one of the girls who usually has personal problems get in the way of her appointments and that is how you are introduced to Garrett who will also be a important supporting character in this story. Blake is having a hard time adjusting as any Marine that has experienced what he has once he is home.
This author does one fine job of bringing it home what Blake and many others go through. Blake, later, is  one of the lucky ones that have caring family that sees he gets a reality check and the help he needs once he accepts it. A lot of drama will happen before these two meet which makes for the meeting even sweeter I think. They start out slow and easy which is so tantalizing in between more insights with Jameson and Mary Beth who later he turns to you know who (better read the first one). Anything worth while you stick with it and these two do just that with each other. Two souls brought together to make a whole I think that will help repair each other. Read how these two carry on and the author builds their relationship that is right just for them. Also though you see the events that lead up to their goodbyes to the ones who lives were given for the closure they needed. Graphic detail also of the horrific event that Anna walks into that is mentioned in first book. Great strides happen that you experience as these two grow together that the epilogue is quite fitting. I give this 5 books.

In one day your life can go from awesome to total shit and for me it’s going to change forever. Who am I? My name is PFC Jameson Carter, and I am a United States Marine, or I was until a bomb detonated and took half of me with it. The only thing that kept me alive was the woman I had waiting back for me at home. How do you go from being a complete person to being half of something? For me, I have help, but how can I be anything more than half of what I used to be? Then when the one person you count on, the person you lived for leaves you how do you react?

For Samantha Blalock life is easy, she helps repair people like me, the people who lose limbs. Something isn’t the same though, she’s changed. See I’ve known Samantha for years. She’s hiding something. Can we help each other through these trying times in our lives? Or does the fact remain that we are both irreparable?
