~ Synopsis ~
Set in scenic Colorado, And Then You Fall is about two people who believe themselves undeserving of happiness in love and life, who grow to understand that taking the chance at both is worth it.
Fate put her in his path and he has no intention of ever letting her go.
Liv gave up her dream of being a competitive barrel racer when she was nineteen to follow her great love, Air Force Captain Scott Fairchild, wherever his life took them. When Scott’s F15 is shot down months later, right before the birth of their daughter, Liv’s world is shattered. She returns to her parents’ isolated ranch in Colorado, and raises her daughter as a single parent. Now that Renie is grown and away at college, Liv is bored and cranky. She finds herself spending too much time on social media feeds, cyber-stalking the hot guitar player she met at a concert over the summer.
Ben Rice recognized her as soon as he saw her sitting at the bar. Liv, that was her name, and fate kept putting her in front of him. The first time he saw her, after his band CB Rice opened at Red Rocks, he couldn’t keep his eyes off her. For the next two hours he watched her. She loved music—and she felt it. Not everyone did. She danced, she laughed, she smiled, she lived. That was why he remembered her name when he introduced himself at the end of the show. “I’m Liv,” she’d said. And he was ready to. He’d endured too many struggles in the last few years. He’d worked hard to keep the band going, and he wasn’t going to give up. With a new record about to be released, this was their year—he could feel it.
Used to getting what he wants, Ben pursues the reluctant Liv, who’s busy following her own dreams. When a devastating accident changes the course of her life, Ben is forced to choose between his band’s long-fought meteoric rise to international fame, and the woman he believes is the love of his life.
It’ll take fate’s intervention once again to bring her back to him, where Ben is convinced she belongs. But Liv is faced with the same dilemma she’s always struggled with. Which is it, love or the dreams she’s never allowed herself to put first, that she won’t let go of?
~ Review by Denise ~
I truly love to read a good romance that has realism to the body of it when given the opportunity to I snap it up. When I had seen the blurb on what this novel was about, this could very well be one of those opportunities. Upon starting this novel you are introduced to the characters right up front that are involved in the story that sets the body of it. Liv and her friend Paige have gone to Vegas for business. Paige has to attend to with her friend’s reasoning being she needed to be ungrouched. But wouldn’t you know her friend also knows a certain someone whom she has had a thing for is also going to be there playing with his band-Ben. Having encountered him before when she was at a concert of his while with her daughter and friend, Paige is very aware of her reaction to him. They also insisted he too was attracted to her which she finds hard to believe. They also had one other encounter when she was with her daughter one in which she ran away from when left alone with him.
Of course the author does a great job of filling in even more concerning these two. Ben has had a long road with his music but not everything has been roses having done a failed marriage and rehab from alcohol. He also has 2 adorable sons with a great family support system. Liv has been a widow forever with her husband having been killed in the military leaving her to raise her daughter on her own. She though has a great network of friends while she also boards horses. She also has a unfulfilled dream of barrel racing. Thanks to this clever friend of hers though they finally meet for more than a minute and hook up. That is when you need to hold on to your seats because a whirlwind of heat and romance is about to commence with such a ride that is all consuming.
The relationship itself though is far from being smooth sailing with turmoils that would make the average joe scream, me included screaming at them cause of wanting to lock them in a room till they reached common ground on issues. But of course that would of been rushing the story along and taken away from the enjoyment of the writings from this author. There is a beautiful song included that goes with the title with the meaning and how it all came about too. So go along with these two through many ups and downs, apart and being together but the intensity always there and growing. The main obstacle is fear on both their parts which is such a heavy thing to defeat. One good thing about it though is love is the only thing that can conquer that which is what you get to see in action when reading this novel. Life at its rawest in a relationship is what you get when reading this novel with love so hot would melt a candle. One of the best things though is dreams do get met and fear will be conquered with a ending that will leave you more than satisfied. 4 books
