Dragon King, Draven Taraxus, never wanted the crown. Born to a dying breed of Rulers, Draven has sat on the throne for the last 100 years, thanks to his father’s impeachment. Boredom and stagnation have left his kingdom, and his heart, ripe for the picking by a power hungry evil that has spent the same amount of time plotting and scheming to take over.
Everything is in place. The pieces have all been set and all Evil needs is one last ingredient to rule everything. The love of a human with fire-red hair and silvery eyes that will…Light The Dragon’s Fire
“Tell me more about this Nolan,” he whispered over his shoulder. “Now!” Terra murmured something he couldn’t make out and he added, “Quickly, it might be our only chance.”
“Fine,” she grumbled. “He’s tall, like you, but afraid to get his hands dirty, unlike you.”
That was a start, but his possessive nature needed more. “No! How do you really feel about him?”
She sighed and there was a roll of her eyes in the next words. “He’s a nice guy, ok? A decent sort. But he’s going
to expect me to stay home, take care of any children we have and not run the company like I’ve been doing for the last five years…”
The mere thought she might have the child of another man was more than enough to send his emotions spiraling out of control. The once green flames morphed into a bright red and he used that, firing off ball after ball at the vines as they descended. Every hit was true and they shrieked in pain, recoiling back the way they’d come. Sadly, they were only replaced by new ones and before long, thick smoke from their burning tendrils hung in the air, hiding the upper edge of the pit from his sight.
It hadn’t been much of a plan, but maybe the smoke could aid them as well. When he could no longer see Golix and his minions, he spun, gripping Terra’s forearms.
“Do you trust me?”
Indecision twisted across her features. “Maybe?”
He tightened his grip. In order for this to work, there had to be no doubt on her part. “Do you trust me!?”
A muscle in her jaw ticked. “Yes! Fine! Whatever! I trust you!”
Review by Denise
Wowzer wow wow is what I got to say right off the gate here. This is the first time reading this author for me also. The cover and the title are what caught my eyes right off the bat so do love a good dragon novel. As I open the book right away I am carried away on an adventure I will none too soon forget. Two sisters exploring during an age and time when everyone has gone lazy and electronic getting their kicks and stimuli artificially. Not Terra and Lanni; they explore the old fashioned way, physically, themselves on their way to a cave marked on a map. One last hurrah before Terra does her duty to the family and marries for not herself and love. Lanni is her twin and she considers herself the goof up of the two.
This author really knows how to bring these characters to life and right away you like them and are on their adventure with them. But do things go according to plan? Oh no my friend! Something or someone awaits them that will change their lives forever. So as I am reading and caught up with them, it is as I am right there with them when they enter somewhere else that is no longer familiar with none other than a dragon. Sarcastic humor is also the order of the day in this novel as you go along, which is right up my alley. She will have you in a place that will have many species coexisting together just like real time with many nationalities.
Oh have I wanted a novel such as this and have thought some one really needs to write one where there are many and not just a few. To say the least though the descriptions will have you salivating because she will introduce some men of the species that will, if face to face, take your breath away with wanting. I know I already want one and he is the king no less-Draven and he is a dragon. This is not all fluff either; it is filled with adventure that will raise your hair. It is filled with treachery that will have you nashing your teeth and wanting to punch the culprit. It also has love the kind you hope and wish for the kind that will be no less that comes with finding your mate. It is not to be an easy road for the ones that love either. Evil and magic are also the order of the day-ha sounds like real time again. The story line flow will have you swept away and not let you go till you reach the very end. This is certainly like no other I have read which for me a long time reader is like- EUREKA!! GOLD IN THIS THERE BOOK- Ah the world and adventure that awaits will not end here either because this author and her talent will leave you breathlessly awaiting the next installment which for my sake I hope will be soon very soon. Anyone got any extra snacks while I wait? 5 books!
