Blog Tour with Review – Snow on Magnolias (A Bon Amie Novel) by Hattie Mae

About the Book

Rose Fabre has just been dumped at the altar, and not by just any man but the star quarterback of San Antonio’s Wranglers. To make matters worse, the embarrassing event is spread all over the news, and her own mother blames her. Though that is nothing new, after all Rose is never right about anything, according to her mother. She has to get out of Texas. Somewhere where maybe the news hasn’t reached.

So she heads for Bon Amie Louisiana where her aunt Odelia has been a live-in housekeeper for some rice farmers for years. If she remembers right Bon Amie is so small she doubts it even has a newspaper. The last time she was there she was thirteen years old and remembers having a great time with the farmer’s five boys.

Arriving at the LeBlanc Manor after midnight was not in her plan, but her spur-of-the-moment trip didn’t allow for wretched traffic or the herd of cattle who refused to get off the road. She is met on the lawn by one of the brothers, Sam, who mistakes her for an intruder. Once she explains her reason for a visit and he puts away his shotgun, and shows her to a room.

What do you get when you have a city girl living in a house full of superstitious farmers? Chaos, and plenty of it. Add in two kids, several lazy dogs and her lovesick aunt and Rose has her hands full.

Sam doesn’t like Rose very much and neither do his two young daughters. Rose learns that his wife took off years ago leaving Sam to raise the two girls. And for someone wanting to find a place to regain her peace of mind and forget about men, Rose has walked into a mess of them. Five LeBlanc brothers, all grown up.

Rose has some changes to make. She can continue trying to please her mother and trying to be someone she’s not, or she can embrace this new life she’s discovered and settle in. Bon Amie might not have a Starbucks, but the friendly smiles and unique characters not to mention the slower lifestyle. With this change of pace will Rose finally trust herself and to fall in love, this time its forever. But which brother will win her heart?

Review by Denise
This is my first time reading this author so the storyline drew me in especially since I myself love the south, with some of my mother’s side of the family still residing there even today. Magnolia is such a pleasant scent. I also so was thinking fondly of them when I first turned the pages of this novel which right away was the kind that invited you in like said sit down a spell, take off the shoes. This story will be a treat for sure.

The character you are introduced to right away is Sam the main man who is awake in the favorite time of his, late night. Seeing headlights approaching and once stopped, out steps a redheaded woman. A superstition pops into mind (know all about them was told plenty growing up) but once questioned finds out it is his own, Odelia’s niece come to see her. There you have it, a colorful intro to main female character she has written. Opposites if I might say so I have concluded so this ought to be interesting reading indeed. Sam also has 2 daughters whom his wife and their mother have taken off and not returned so a little bitter he might be, but love his girls he does.I would say Rose is a witty charming character who has a not so nice mother whom after being jilted at the alter has come when her aunt has asked for help which has been a trip long overdue.

So thanks to the wonderful skill of this author you are taken into the everyday life of this family right at harvest time with all the characters that are brought to life through this telling watching what happens when two people that are not looking for love, could even say one against it cause guarding his heart and the other one losing faith in her happy ever after being drawn to each other witnessing a marvelous relationship grow. Interjected in this novel is all the ingredients-love, humor, mishaps and hurdles enjoying the wonderful way they are presented and handled. Everyday live could not be more sweet when you suddenly find yourself falling in love and finding how it feels to belong to a family especially one with so much care for each other. Surprises will be occurring that do not always have a expected outcome. One of the best ingredients was a love thought lost then found by several not thrown away but will be treasured. All in all this is such a enjoyable read that it is one that leaves you all warm and fuzzy when you are finished. Also though there is a nice story behind the magnolias that was also every so often still active that brought a smile to the face while reading. I give this 4 books.
