It only took one drunken mistake four years ago for Maddie Harrington to learn that when you fully give yourself over to a man, you should never expect anything in return. Since that night, her views on love have become distorted, believing men would only want her for the pleasure her body could bring them. She in turn finds herself hooking up with random guys, but never keeps them around long enough to see if there could possibly be something more.
That is…until Hunter Bryant enters the picture.
When the handsome pre-med student shows up in the right place at the right time, captivating her with his stormy gaze, she immediately pushes him away, thinking he’s no different than any other guy. The deeper Hunter delves into her life, trying to break through her iron-clad walls, the more she begins to question whether she is truly capable of opening her heart up to another man.
Maddie soon finds herself forced to make a difficult decision, one that will forever change both of their lives. Will she shut Hunter out of her life for good or will she finally open up her heart and allow herself the life she never dreamed she deserved?

Liberty took off to Savannah. No job and no place to live. The last few years have been tough since her brother passed away and she just can’t seem to move forward in life. This is her moving forward or running away. She meets some friends that take her in and become her new family. She literally falls for a hot new guy. Shayne is everything she has ever wanted. Everyone including Shayne admits he has a long history of sleeping around. She is still drawn to him and wants to be with him. When a secret from his past comes back to haunt them….Liberty runs again….is it for good?I understand the pain of loss and feeling like being the parent of the house as a child. I think it took major courage to pick up and leave. I don’t think I could have done it. I would have had to make a plan. It looks like she found the place she was meant to be. Then three months later everything seems to crushing in on her. His past and her past. I loved this story. Even though I guessed the secret right off. I was glad I was wrong how it was handled. I give this 5 books!
Maddie was introduced to us in Relinquishing Liberty. She is still having issues with Liberty’s and Shayne’s relationship even though she is happy Liberty is happy. Maddie has had issues about things since she was 16. She is the original party girl. She even convinces Liberty to go to a frat party to start off Liberty’s first year in college. Next thing she knows she waking up to a stranger.
Hunter is the original guy to the rescue. He is not only a premed student but also in ROTC. He has decided that he likes everything he sees in Maddie and won’t take no for an answer. Maddie will have to open her heart to Hunter and hope when she does…..he doesn’t break it.
I really enjoyed the story. I love Hunter (Dr G.I. Joe) and Maddie’s feelings are heartbreaking. Hunter is no Shayne but he is sweet. At least most of the time. I was glad to read more of Shayne and Liberty’s story too. It is also nice to know that Maddie could put the past behind her when it comes to Shayne. I give this 4.5 books.
