Isis can control her dreams. Or she could—until recently. The creature in her nightmares has been haunting her for months. As if being dumped wasn’t bad enough, now she dreads going to sleep. She decides to confront the creature and win back some of her peace; only, she finds that he’s not a monster and he’s not a dream.
A sacrifice for love, a shocking discovery and a jealous ex-boyfriend blur the lines between reality and dreams, making it hard to tell who the real monsters are.
Who would’ve known…that sometimes love is lethal?
Every one of my thoughts led to her. The only thing my mind could see was her face—and that should belong to me along with the rest of her.
Many times my friend, Eros, god of love and lust, had recounted stories of lovers. At the time, I was ignorant of the meaning of the word “love” and far more ignorant of the words he spoke in reference to humans: “Their prayers seek me out asking to pierce my arrows through the hearts of their unrequited halves because it is so great—their love—that they fall physically ill.”
I judged their request ridiculous. But now, I was the one to be ridiculed by my own wits. I had become a hypocrite to my own views.
As I thought more about it, I knew that Eros held my answer. I couldn’t waste any more time.
I parked the car under an ebony tree and ran inside the house.
My mother appeared at the top of the staircase.
“I have to leave for a few days, but I need you to do something for me while I’m away.”
“But why? Where are you off to?”
“Please don’t question me. I need your help.”
I had been hearing about Creatura for a while. It looked like a really good read and so when I finally got to the point where I was ready to read it, it wasn’t available in e-format!! Nely Cab had decided to re-do the cover and re-format the book. So, I had to wait until it was ready for publishing again unless I wanted to read it in paperback format. But I didn’t, because since it was getting a new look anyway, I figured I might as well wait until the new one was out!
Isis is not your typical teenager. She is practically a zombie in that she is only sleeping about 2 hours a night because of the dreams. She used to be able to control them, but lately, there is something wrong with her dreams. She keeps having the same one over and over and over again. And in this dream, there is a strange creature that is terrifying her and she cannot sleep. She keeps fighting the doctor and her mother because she doesn’t want to take sleeping pills that could keep her trapped in the dream. But, she gives in and decides to confront the creature. She doesn’t realize what kind of problems she is going to create when she does this. She also doesn’t expect to fall in love.
This book was so extraordinarily good!! I know it is listed as a YA, but anyone can read it. Anyone that wants to read an engaging, well written unique story about a girl having a tough time with life and relationships. She doesn’t understand why she is different, and she doesn’t want any trouble or complications in her life. She just wants to go to school and graduate and then move on with her life. But, her dreams and “others” have a different plan for her. Once she meets the creature, all plans are off and live starts spiraling out of control. Nothing makes sense anymore and Isis isn’t sure what to do or who to turn to. She just knows that some things are forbidden for a reason and shouldn’t be tampered with. It is probably the biggest understatement when I say that I cannot wait for the next book to come out and that I am bugging Nely for it all the time. As a matter of fact, it’s time for my daily harassing of her! Join me why don’t you!! Oh!! And if you couldn’t tell, I give this book 5 books!
