undying destiny

Synopsis:

Kenric St. James is out for revenge. Over 300 years ago, an ancient female vampire turned him against his will and killed the woman he loved. He’s spent more than a century building an Enclave of warrior vampires who have sworn to defend humanity against his evil sire and her minions. But when Kenric finds a woman he finally burns to claim as his own again, Kenric knows loving her means giving his sire another target.

Emily Ross just wanted a fresh start. She’s a survivor, coming off the tail end of an abusive relationship, and craves time alone to learn who she is and to save the home that holds her heart. The last thing she needed was a controlling, alpha male calling all the shots.

Meeting Kenric might just have changed her mind, though. He is wrong for her in all the right ways. But in order to keep her heart from breaking, he first has to keep the hordes of evil vamps from stealing her very breath.

Review:

Kenric has spent 3 centuries hating his maker Marguerite.  She not only changed him into a vampire without his consent but she also killed the woman he loved so she could have him to herself.  She instead made an enemy for life.  Now that Marguerite has found a new power that allows her to get into his dreams; she thinks she will get what she wants.  She doesn’t realize that no matter what she does he won’t want her.  She is so used to getting her way that the thought is unfathomable.  Kenric goes out to protect the humans from her minions when he found himself severely injured.  He passes out and wakes in a hospital.

Emily is a nurse.  She has severe trust issue but she sees a hurt man and decides to save him.  When the handsome man wakes up, he bites her and steals her away.  Now she is even more angry that this man thinks he can control her.  It doesn’t matter if he is good looking or not.  She is done having men tell her what to do!  But, Kenric needs her help to get rid of the evidence of vampires that the hospital has.  They will need to work together to fix it.  Maybe in fixing this problem they can find something else in common.

I loved Emily’s spunk and Kenric who hasn’t forgotten the love of his life even 3 centuries later.  The author takes a new direction with vampires that I always find enjoyable.  If you want a great paranormal romance this is the book for you.  It has everything people like.  Two unlikely people on different agendas finding themselves on the same side.  Emily doesn’t allow a simple thing as finding out there are vampires change who she is.  She is still a nurse and still values life.
